Amity H. Bryson, D.M.A.
Is an accomplished voice performer, pedagogue, and conductor with a rich background in music education and research.
She earned her Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Missouri-Kansas City Conservatory of Music, focusing on Voice Performance and Pedagogy. Her doctoral research explored the intersection of music, politics, propaganda, censorship, and psychological effects.
Amity holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where her thesis compared the musical patronage of John F. Kennedy and Jimmy Carter in the White House. She also received a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from the same institution.
With a distinguished career spanning over two decades, Amity has held various academic positions, including Associate Dean of the College of Arts & Sciences and Professor of Music at Avila University, Kansas City. She also served as Chair of the School of Performing Arts and Professor of Music, contributing significantly to the institution’s academic and artistic communities.
As an independent artist, Amity dedicates herself to studio teaching, conducting, and coaching. Her passion for music education extends beyond academia, having led the Vocal Music and Fine Arts Departments in her career.
Amity Bryson has conducted internationally acclaimed performances at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Paris Choral Festival (awarded Outstanding Ensemble), Hilton Head Choral Festival, and the Rome International Choral Festival, among others. Her collaborations with renowned composers and fellow musicians highlight her commitment to artistic excellence and cultural exchange.
